NSFAS Appeal 2025 — Step-by-Step Guide to Reapply for Funding

If your NSFAS application was rejected or your funding stopped, you can submit an appeal online. This guide explains the official NSFAS appeal process, who qualifies to appeal, required documents, and how long decisions take.

✅ First check your current NSFAS status: NSFAS Status Check →

📌 Who Can Submit an NSFAS Appeal?

You may appeal if your status shows:

  • Funding Unsuccessful
  • N+ Rule Exceeded (if you have valid motivation)
  • Rejected due to missing or incorrect documents
  • Academic Ineligible but you passed enough modules to continue
  • Household Income Error (proof required)

You cannot appeal if you were rejected due to fraud, invalid documents, or dropping out without notice.

🧾 Valid NSFAS Appeal Reasons

  • Loss of family income / death of a breadwinner
  • Medical condition affecting studies
  • Parent/guardian lost employment
  • Incorrect income assessment by NSFAS
  • Approved late at institution but not captured by NSFAS
