The means test checks your income and assets:

Single applicants: Income must be less than R102,000 per year
Married couples: Combined income must be less than R204,000 per year
Assets limit: R1,372,800 (single) or R2,745,600 (married)

If you already receive a private pension, it may reduce the amount SASSA pays.

💰 How Much Is the Older Persons Grant?

As of 2025, the monthly payment is:

R2,180 per month — Age 60 to 74
R2,200 per month — Age 75 and older

Grant amounts may increase again in the next National Budget review.
